I just want to thank everyone who celebrated my birthday with me last weekend, or who sent me birthday wishes. I've gotten to the point in my life where I don't get excited about my birthday anymore, but I truly had a fantastic time partying with everyone. Thank you for coming, and thank you for all the wonderful and unexpected gifts. I got a few bottles of sumptuous wine, several more thirst-quenching beers, some home-made jam, a "manly" satchel, a cd, booze tickets (which will be turned into more wine), some creme liqueur, ice wine (wow, you think I've got a reputation or something!?!), a circular saw, gift cards to Henry's (enough that I have a new lens!), and last, but certainly not least, a new-ish foosball table! Phew! I'm not going to name everyone individually (you know who you are... most of you don't read my blog anyway), but Carolyn gets the grand prize for the foosball table, which was totally unexpected. And bonus points for getting a great deal on it!

Here's a photo of my foosball table taken with my new
nearly favourite lens, a 50mm 1.8f prime. This one is auto-focus, so I have half a chance of decent photos now. Although clearly I don't have the hang of yet, as evidenced by the photo above. But I love the shallow depth-of-field... it opens up many creative avenues.
That's all I wanted to say. Life is good right now.
