les couleurs de l'automne

Carolyn and I went for a hike on Saturday on the Bruce Trail, just above my parent's house on the escarpment. It was a perfect day for a hike. The fall colours were just delectable. Afterwards we spent the evening at her grandfather's in Burlington. He stuffed us with the most delicious homemade waffles, and then sent us home with half-a-dozen more! Then we caved and bought more Ikea furniture on the way home. That place is dangerous! But oooh so shiny! We then made a "quick" stop at my parents, got topped up with more food, and finally made it home to feed the starving cat. I'll post pictures of the big guy soon enough.

Anyway, here are some photographs from the hike:

Reason #27323 not to live in the US..

Ok, so I've been getting some e-mails concerning the shipping status of a cellular phone ordered by a Mr. Corey Vnoucek. I assumed that that the first one was some computer glitch, but I have since received another. Now while I am glad that I am able to track this package so closely, I can't help but feel bad that poor Corey is being left in the dark. So I decided to see if I could look up his e-mail, and inform him of the mix-up. I went to the US whitepages (uhm, ok, I may have clicked on the link in the e-mail, and it may have showed me what state he lives in.) and searched for Vnoucek. (On a side note, all the Vnoucek's seem to live either in Minnesota or Nebraska... the CRAZY states!). I couldn't find Corey, but I did find another Vnoucek living in the same state. Along with the phone number, the entry had a link to another website, so I took a peek. Go here and do a lookup on someone.

It's SUPER-CREEPY!!! For only $49.99, you can do a complete background check on practically ANYONE! Here's what you can get:

Includes current & previous addresses, alias names, roommates, relatives, family members, marriage, divorce, neighbors, property ownership, legal judgments & more personal profile info.

Aaaaaaaahhh! And I found out how old Corey is, and who is parents are, just by looking him up! I can only imagine for another fifty bucks, I could have a web-cam installed in his room! The funny thing is, the motto of this website is: "building trust". Wow, they put so much spin on that I hardly noticed it was spying.

I realize that most, if not all of the information is probably in public records... but still, it's disconcertingly easy. Stalking... fun for all ages!

(PS: if anyone knows Corey... can you let him know his cell phone is on the way?)
